Target skills and knowledge: This class will allow students to acquire basic knowledge about how the cognitive system end groups work.
In particular, students will be able to learn cognitive mechanisms involved in attention and perception, in memory and thinking, in problem solving and in decision making.
Examination methods: The exam will be written.
Course unit contents: Basic knowledge about how man aquires, stores, recovers informations, learns new ideas, solves problems and makes decisions, will be provided. More in detail teaching will analyze the sensory and perceptual experience, the role of attention in the stimuli identification and the environment representation. Then learning and memory will be studied. Further processes involved in concepts and categories construction and the representation of knowledge and the spatial relations.
Processes involved in language and thinking, in thinking and decision making will be discussed. Finally teaching will analyze the structure and the activity of groups.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lessons in class in which beside the presentation of theories and concepts of cognitive processes, discussions of classical phenomenon of the psychology will be promoted.
