Syllabus
Prerequisites: It is necessary to pass the exam of Criminal Law 1 and an adequate legal training with particular reference to criminal law, civil law and labor law.
Target skills and knowledge: The aim of the course is to provide the conceptual and methodological tools to address issues of collaboration between lawyers and physicians under the dual perspective of medical-legal and medical-forensic.
Examination methods: oral
Course unit contents: Introduction to the knowledge of forensic medicine, with particular attention to the meaning and methodology of medical-biological act in the legal field.
The damage to the person of forensic relevance.
The damage in penal law:
- Offences against the person (with particular reference to issues relating to forensic crime of murder, consensual, incitement to suicide, infanticide, beatings, injury, sexual violence).
- Maltreatment.
- Crimes of abortion.
The damage in the civil law:
- The biological damage, (including the civil law responsibility).

The causality in legal medicine.

The subject’s capacity in legal medicine in penal and civil law. The Italian law on the support administrator.

The Italian law on social protection of motherhood and the voluntary interruption of pregnancy.

The Italian law on medically assisted fertilization.
Accidents at work and occupational diseases .

Aspects of the diagnostic assessment in legal medicine:
- Forensic pathology, the role of the forensic medical doctor in the investigation of inspection, detection and chronology of death.
- Aspects on issues related to personal identification and the peculiarities of forensic laboratory.

The professional responsibility of health professionals
- The protection of health.
- The health professions. Lawfulness of the medical treatments. Sterilization, withdrawal of organs; rectification of sex.
- Information in health care.
- Informed consent to medical treatment. The obligatory health treatment. The Advance directives treatment.
- The assessment of the causal relationship for medical acts of commission and acts of omission.
- The evaluation of the professional misconduct.
