Basic concepts of Philosophy, History and Sociology
Target skills and knowledge:: Development of intercultural skills, capability to face problems related with cultural differences in the local/global context. Principles of anthropological methodology and research.
Course unit contents: Cultural Anthropology can be viewed as a repository of knowledge and methodological skills, to implement the interpretation of contemporary world and reassess cultural differences. The main theme of the course is the ratio between universality and difference, with diversity as dialectic solution. Anthropological is essentially a meta-descriptive view and imply the real presence of the scholar in the research field. Ethnography is an acknowledged methodology for many fields in the sociological context.
Planned learning activities: The course provides investigations in economical and political anthropology, religion, kinship and family. Particular regard will be done to cultural processes, identity, diasporas and metissage. Field research experiences of the teacher and films will be presented; guests will be invited.
