Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic knowldge of accounting and general management.
Target skills and knowledge: - To be able to analyse the relationships between external environment and organizational decisions
- To be able to interpret human behaviors
- To be able to apply concepts and principles of organizational theory to organizational design
Examination methods: Written and oral (if necessary) examination
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will be based on the knowldge of the topics covered on the lessons, on the in-class participation and on the individual ability to discuss organizational design issues.
Course unit contents: The purpose of this course is to introduce students to fundamental issues of organizational design
The first part of the course analyses the key issues in organizatonal theory, following three fundamental dimensions: people (motivation, competences, teams), environment (markets, technology and institutions), internal and external relationships.
The second part focuses on key variables of organizational design and studies the characteristics and functioning of organizational structures.
