Syllabus
Prerequisites: The background of scientific formation is granted by the former graduation in Biotechnology. Having attended courses and passed examinations on protein structure, proteomics and bioinformatics will substantially increase the capability of fruitfully attending this course.
Target skills and knowledge: Students will be trained to understand and apply the most modern biotechnological procedures currently used in the Department of Molecular Medicine.
Examination methods: An oral examination will be adopted.
Assessment criteria: During the examination students will be evaluated on the basis of: a) theoretical basis of the analyses and instrumentation; b) significance of the results; c) integration of these measurements in the frame of a biotechnological project.
Course unit contents: Spectroscopic techniques (including EPR and NMR)
Advanced microscopy (including EM and AFM)
Surface plasmon rosonance for bomolecular interactions
Lipidomic (by MS/MS)
Genome editing for gene therapy
Principles of Cell Therapy

The course will be coordinated by the reference teacher and will include lectures and laboratory activity presented and guided by specialists in different fields
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lecture in different topics will be integrated with guided practical experience on different technologies
Additional notes about suggested reading: Students will receive the didactic material presented at the lectures; the related references and copies of the most relevant scientific papers and applications notes.
Care will be taken to assist student in finding the most appropriate educational meterial from the web.
