Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: to acquire awareness of the difference between societies and cultures chronologically or geographically distant from one another; to familiarize with research tools which history has developed in conjunction with social theory.
Examination methods: For attending students: evaluation of the active contribution to the seminars; written essay; oral interview on a set textbook.
For non-attending students: oral interview on a reading list individually agreed with the lecturer.
Course unit contents: A first module will deal with the discipline’s key themes. A second – attendance to which is highly recommended – will take the format of a seminar, in which sources and themes relating to religious dissent and its control in early modern Italy (witchcraft, heresy, possession) will be examined in team discussions.
