Syllabus
Prerequisites: probability theory; basic networking
Target skills and knowledge: Knowledge of the main mathematical tools and modeling techniques for the study of telecommunication networks and networking protocols. Knowledge of the theoretical basics of Markov chains, renewal processes, queueing theory and traffic models, and their applications.
Examination methods: written test and oral exam
Assessment criteria: - ability to solve modeling exercises and performance analysis
- learning basic theoretical concepts and ability to use them for reasoning and extensions
Course unit contents: Probability theory review; Markov chains, their limiting behavior; Poisson processes; renewal processes; applications and examples.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: 72 hours of lectures, with exercises
