Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Specific characteristics of the Module

Course unit contents: Indications for surgery and surgical problems of:
• Diseases of the thyroid gland: goiter, thyroid nodule, hyperthyroidism, benign and malignant tumors;
• Primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism;
• Hyperfunctioning diseases of the adrenal gland, benign and malignant adrenal tumors;
• Neuroendocrine tumors (NET): carcinoids, endocrine tumors of the pancreas.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lessons, slides and video presentation. Discussion of the results of clinical and experimental research published in international journals in the field of endocrine surgery. All course materials will be available for students on the Moodle platform as pdf files (
The course will be held also in Brixen (BZ), in the context of the Summer Courses of Padua University Medical School (expected dates: 16.08.2016-26.08.2016) if a minimum number of 15 registered students will be achieved.
