Target skills and knowledge:: Required basic concepts of Philosophy, History, Psychology and Education


Acquisition of basic concepts of Cultural Anthropology, in its theoretical and methodological aspects. Acknowledgement of historical processes of contemporary world. Acknowledgement of the interpretative an distributive dimension of culture in the global context. Consideration of the complexity and variability of meanings and values. Improvement of relational skills in intercultural contests.
Course unit contents: Universality and difference. The concept of culture and the analysis of cultural processes. Anthropological criticism to ethnocentrism and racism. Post-colonial anthropology, from Lèvi-Strauss to James Clifford. Ethnicity and multiculturalism. History of migrations. Diaspora and integration. Ethnicity and globalisation. Anthropological criticism on identity. Mediation on meanings and values.
Anthropology of Education. Rites of passage . Anthropology of violence. Ethnographical Method.
