Syllabus
Prerequisites: There are no specific prerequisites.
Target skills and knowledge: - The attainment of skills for the construction of cartographic representations, for their interpretation and their use, especially for cultural tourism.
- To outline, through a chronological path, the main stages of the history of cartography, with the analysis of cartographic products in their socio-cultural, geographical and historical context.
- To manage a GIS project in all its phases (design, data acquisition, pre-processing, processing and analysis, data representation (map building).
- To know how to find cartographic and documentary sources that serve a territorial analysis aimed at a cultural tourism planning.
Examination methods: Oral exam
Assessment criteria: Check of the capacity of building, interpretation and use of cartographic representations.
Assessment of the main stages of the history of cartography, contextualising the main cartographic products in their socio-cultural, geographical and historical context.
Checking the ability to manage a simple GIS project.
Verification of the ability of finding cartographic and documentary sources that serve a territorial analysis aimed to a cultural tourism planning.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, reading of maps, modern and ancient, historical atlases, GIS laboratory, can hike teaching
