Curriculum Vitae
Annalisa Oboe is Full Professor of English Literature and Postcolonial Studies in the Department of Linguistic and Literary Studies (DiSLL) and Vice-Rector for Cultural, Social and Gneder Relations at the University of Padua. Her research focuses on postcolonial theory and cultures, South African and Black Atlantic literatures, Australian Indigenous writing, and British colonial and contemporary literature. She got her PhD from Ca' Foscari University, Venice, in 1992. She visited and studied at a number of foreign institutions (University of London, Oxford, Johannesburg-Wits, Cape Town-UCT, Toronto, Sydney-NSW), also thanks to scholarships and funding provided by the British Council, the Italian CNR, the Centre for American Studies in Rome, the Canadian Studies Faculty Research Award Program, and the University of Padua.
She was President of AISCLI (Associazione Italiana di Studi sulle Culture e Letterature in lingua Inglese, 2010-2016), advisor to the executive committee of EACLALS (European Association of Commonwealth Language and Literature Studies, 2008-11), and she co-founded the international literary festival "Incroci di Civiltà" in Venice (2008). She has directed international research projects and organized and presented papers at national and international conferences.
Among her publications are the volumes: Fiction, History and Nation in South Africa (Venezia, Supernova, 1994); Mongrel Signatures. Reflections on the Work of Mudrooroo (Amsterdam-New York, Rodopi, 2003); Recharting the Black Atlantic: Modern Cultures, Local Communities, Global Connections (with A. Scacchi, London and New York, Routledge, 2008); Experiences of Freedom in Postcolonial Literatures and Cultures (with S. Bassi, Abingdon and New York, Routledge 2011); Approaching Sea Changes: Metamorphoses and Migrations across the Atlantic (Padova, Unipress, 2005); Parole parlate: forme di comunicazione orale fra tradizione e modernità (afriche e orienti, 2005); Black Arts in Britain: literary visual performative (with F. Giommi, Roma, Aracne, 2011); A Garland of True Plain Words (con A. Scacchi, Unipress, 2012); Archivi del futuro: il postcoloniale, l’Italia e il tempo a venire (issue 1, From the European South, 2016, pp.1-314).
