Curriculum Vitae
Alfredo Ruggeri was born in Vicenza in 1955 and graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Padua in February 1979. From 1979 to 1981 he has been Assistant Professor of Automatic Control, Faculty of Engineering, University of Padua. From 1981 to 1992 he has been Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Padua. Since 1992 he is Associate Professor of "Data processing and biomedical signals" at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Padua. Since 1999 he is faculty member of the PhD Curriculum in Bioengineering, now PhD School in Computer Engineering, and member of the "Curriculum Development of Advanced Course (CDA) on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics", for the Socrates-Erasmus program of the European Union. In 1982 he has been a Visiting Scholar at the Biocybernetics Laboratory, Departments of Computer Science and Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, CA. From 1994 to 2003, in August he has been a Visiting Professor at the Department of Bioengineering, University of Washington, Seattle, WA (USA). His scientific research activities have been in different areas of bioengineering: mathematical modeling in physiology and clinical medicine, addressing theoretical and methodological aspects as well as specific applications in the field of endocrine and metabolic systems; analysis of biomedical data with advanced techniques (expert systems, neural networks); processing and analysis of biomedical images, in particular in the area of ophthalmology diagnostics and cytogenetics; therapeutic instrumentation applications based on electric current at high frequency.
