My research interests are related to animal behavior. In particular:
A) Evolution of behavioral asymmetries and hemispheric specialization in vertebrates.
The majority of my publications cover this area and include behavioral, neuroanatomical and genetic studies:
- Genetic bases and neural bases of cerebral lateralization in model organisms
- Neural bases of cerebral lateralization in non-human primates
- The functions of cerebral lateralization in vertebrates

B) Animal cognition
- Mathematical skills in animals
- Evolution of reproductive strategies in viviparous fish
- Illusions and visual perception in animals

Research areas

B) Cognizione animale
- Abilità matematiche negli animali
- Evoluzione delle strategie riproduttive nei pesci vivipari
