The 2017-2018 course in History of Animation will start on October 16, 2017. The last class will be on January 15, 2018.

Please note that on October 17 there will be no class, due to a work appointment I have at the University of Udine.

The course room is the Aula Spettacolo - 3rd floor of the Beldomandi building (Via Beldomandi, 1).

Classes will start at 16:30 and end at 18:30, every Monday and Tuesday.

UPDATE - Nov 8, 2017

There will be no class on November 28, 2017, because the teacher will participate in the presentation of the Italian edition of Giannalberto Bendazzi's book Animation. A World History, at the Palazzo della Meridiana in Genova, at 6pm.

Curriculum Vitae
Marco Bellano, PhD, is adjunct professor in History of Animation at the University of Padova, Italy. He was formerly adjunct professor in History of Italian Cinema at the Boston University Study Abroad Padova Program, and in History of Popular Music at the Conservatory of Ferrara. He was several times guest teacher of Film Music at the University of Salamanca, Spain. His academic qualifications include degrees in Piano and Conducting from the Conservatory of Vicenza.
In 2014 the SAS-Society for Animation Studies assigned him the Norman McLaren-Evelyn Lambart Award for the Best Scholarly Article; the SAS also co-funded his conference “Il cinema d’animazione e l’Italia” (Padua, 2014). He was Chair of the 29th SAS Annual Conference, "... And Yet It Moves!" (Padova, July 3-7, 2017).
He is associate editor of the cinema journal Cabiria.
He collaborates with many orchestras and cultural organizations; he is vice president of the “Francesco e Paolo Contarini” association for contemporary music.
He wrote the books Metapartiture. Comporre musica per i film muti (2007) and Animazione in cento film (2013, with Giovanni Ricci and Marco Vanelli).
He co-edited (with Giannalberto Bendazzi) a 2017 Animation Journal issue on Italian animation.
