Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso di laurea in Astronomia fornisce un'ampia preparazione di base nei settori della fisica e dell'astrofisica sviluppando l'uso del metodo scientifico da potersi applicare sia nell'ambito della ricerca (dopo la laurea magistrale e il dottorato di ricerca), sia nel mondo del lavoro in settori ove possono risultare rilevanti i metodi d'indagine tipici della fisica e le conoscenze specifiche della ricerca astronomica. A tale fine la preparazione dei laureati in Astronomia comprenderà: un'ampia conoscenza di base degli strumenti matematici necessari ad affrontare lo studio della fisica e a realizzare le sue applicazioni; un'ampia conoscenza dei vari settori della fisica classica, della fisica teorica e della fisica quantistica; una solida padronanza delle nozioni fondamentali dell'astronomia e dell'astrofisica nonché una panoramica sufficientemente approfondita degli aspetti più moderni della ricerca astronomica; una esperienza adeguata delle tecniche di laboratorio e della misura delle grandezze fisiche nonché dell'uso dei telescopi ottici e della elaborazione dei dati da essi ottenibili; la capacità di utilizzare una lingua dell'Unione Europea, diversa dall'italiano.

Ambiti occupazionali
Il laureato potrà trovare sbocchi professionali presso le industrie ottiche o presso quelle che si occupano di attività spaziali. Potrà inoltre trovare occupazione nel settore informatico. Potrà dedicarsi ad attività di ricerca applicata in laboratori industriali, o ad attività promozionali o commerciali (strumentazione, calcolatori). Oppure potrà decidere di continuare la sua formazione affrontando la laurea magistrale in Astronomia e successivamente dedicarsi ad attività di ricerca o all'insegnamento.

Il corso dà accesso al corso di laurea magistrale in Astronomia, secondo le modalità che saranno indicate nello specifico avviso di ammissione.
