Syllabus
Prerequisites: Knowledge provided by parallel courses
Target skills and knowledge: This course aims to provide a framework of the main psychological theories on the development of the individuals and to analyze the changes that occur in the behaviors and psychological functions from birth to adolescence. At the end of the course, the student should acquire knowledge about the stages of the psychological development and the mechanisms underlying it.
Examination methods: The examination will be written

Course unit contents: 1. Methodological framework on Developmental Psychology and main theoretical approaches
2. Physical motor and perceptual development
3. Cognitive development theories of Piaget , Bruner and Vjgotskji
4. The development of language and communication
5. Social, emotional and affective development
6. Adolescence
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: During the lessons the topics are treated in their general aspects and with an order that does not necessarily reflect that of the chapters of the manual. The attending students are required to attend at least two thirds of the lessons, and the frequency will be periodically assessed .
Additional notes about suggested reading: A few hours of exercise in the classroom could be inserted (Max x 20h) dedicated to: a) information and clarification on requests of the students; b) vision and discussion of audiovisual; c) simulation of assessment tests; d) exercises on specific research topics.
