Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Prerequisites: Basic conceptual capabilities and knowledge typically shown by students with their High School certificate.
Target skills and knowledge: Aim of the course is to guide students in the development of conceptual and analytical skills necessary for a critical understanding of theories and methods and in learning basic concepts and theories in Psychology.
Examination methods: The exam consists in a multiple-choice assessment (32 questions; 16 on module A and 16 on module B). In order to take the exam students need to book their participation via the online platform "Uniweb" from 20 to 5 days prior to the date of the exam. There will be only one booking list for both modules.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation of the preparation of the students will take into account the acquisition of concepts related to the different topics and the level of understanding reached.

Specific characteristics of the Module

Course unit contents: The following topics will be covered:
- psychology as a profession
- short background history of psychology
- research methods in psychology
- memory
- intelligence
- complex learning
- language and reading comprehension
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Teaching will include frontal and interactive lessons, as well as class exercises (i.e. discussion on scientific articles,video)where students will be invited to cast in context the learned information.
The two modules are complementary and closely integrated.

Students’ active intervention will be appreciated and stimulated.
