Syllabus
Prerequisites: The topics of the course Elements of Computer Science and of statistical and methodological courses.
Target skills and knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the tools of automatic calculation is essential for any activity of study, research and professional. The course is aimed at learning the main techniques for analyzing data using a spreadsheet.
Examination methods: The exam consists of a series of exercises to be performed at the computer.
Assessment criteria: It will be evaluated in particular the ability to apply acquired knowledge to practical cases.
Course unit contents: The training module focuses on the analysis of data using the software MS-Excel. In particular, on the following topics: Guide to Excel, folders, spreadsheets and graphs; text file opening, page setup and printing, graphs (bar, pie, line); analysis with univariate and categorical data, analysis with bivariate data (scatter plot, correlation, covariance, correlation between multiple variables), probability distributions (binomial, normal, t, F), sampling and simulation, inference procedures for the mean of one sample and two samples; chi-square test, analysis of variance, linear regression.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Video lectures and practical exercises.
