Target skills and knowledge:

The Byzantine civilization in the Western and Eastern historiography and in the contemporary common culture. The archaeological, artistic, literary and documentary sources that will be shown in the lectures will allow the students to understand the main features of the Byzantine Hellenism, the nature of his Christianity, the Roman matrix of its political and institutional reality. Please note that the attainment of the aforementioned skills requires the participation in class. |

Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): full achievement of skills, secure possession of the knowledge, competent use of work tools
Distinguished (27-29): secure knowledge, despite some inaccuracies, good skills, proper use of the tools of the discipline
Good (23-27): with some knowledge gap, skills not fully achieved, use of instruments not always adequate
Fair (18-22): essential knowledge, skills uncertain, sufficient use of the tools
Insufficient (<18): insufficient possession of the knowledge, skills absent, unawareness of the use of tools |

Historical-political chronology; Byzantine theology; Byzantine art. Main literary genres and authors.
To the extent permitted by time and by the skills of the students, Byzantine texts (traslated or in Greek) will be read. |
