Syllabus
Notes: The course begins with a kick-off seminar (3-4 days, September 25th-29th). This activity provides an orientation to the program by involving all of the operational resources of the course. The propaedeutic efficacy of the kick-off seminar (KOS) comes from the insight gained from how the course content is shared and from what roles and tasks are offered, thus creating a well-informed and solid foundation for the educational activities.
Details of the activities include: the presentation of the degree course, of the first semester in Padua and of the other semesters in Leuven, Paris and Campo Grande (Brazil); the introduction of the disciplinary areas, a fieldtrip in Padua with the objective to acquire local knowledge of urban issues related to sustainable development; a fieldtrip with a broader context in Veneto to develop regional-level knowledge on rural-mountain environment related to sustainable development; and a key lecture held by an eminent foreign scholar.
A meeting is dedicated to group activities managed by a Didactic Manager, who illustrates how to deal with various academic tools (Uniweb, Moodle, online consultation and book loans, the procedure for submitting documents regarding internships, Thesis, etc.). The administrative manager of the program presents useful information related to bureaucratic and organizational practices required by the Erasmus+ Program EMJMD, thus facilitating a better integration of university students to the local reality.
The KOS normally concludes with a round table in which representatives of institutions, NGO's, experts on local and/or environmental development as well as former students of the degree course share with students their work and professional experience in Italy and abroad.
KOS is mandatory and entitles students to 2 CFU.
The KOS takes place from 25th to 29th September 2017.
