Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: The course module “PHONÉTIQUE, PHONOLOGIE ET ORTHOÉPIE” is to be considered as Level 1 of the three-year course ‘Lingue, Letterature e Mediazione Culturale’. At the end of their first year, students are expected to have acquired the fundamental skills of phonetic awareness, thus developing and/or strengthening their oral and written competences. While exploring the French sound system, students are led towards a progressive awareness of the orthoepic significance of suprasegmental norms (stress, tone and so forth). Special attention is also paid to improving lexical competence in the main basic lexical domains.
Examination methods: The general examination is composed as follows:

- a test aimed at assessing the skills acquired in the course of the annual training lessons. Both written and oral skills will be tested.
- a written exam aimed at testing the acquisition of the theoretical contents of the course module.

The final grade is the result of the weighted average of the different tests scores.

Course unit contents: 1.COURSE MODULE “PHONÉTIQUE, PHONOLOGIE ET ORTHOÉPIE” (I semester) : description of the French sound system, French graphic system, orthoepy; basic lexical competence.
2.TRAINING LANGUAGE MODULES (I and II semester): students are expected to attend the training language modules held in both the first and second semester.
