Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso forma figure di elevata professionalità nel campo della gestione e dell'analisi statistica dei dati, dotate di solide competenze sia tecniche sia sostanziali, in grado di applicare teorie e tecniche statistiche per raccogliere, analizzare e sintetizzare informazioni, per definire modelli di interpretazione dei dati, per individuare soluzioni statistiche da adottare nei vari settori della produzione di beni e servizi e per incrementare la conoscenza scientifica in materia. Il corso propone l'acquisizione di una solida duplice matrice formativa comune: quella di statistica e matematica applicata alla probabilità, quella di metodi e modelli per l'analisi di dati in differenti contesti applicativi. Sulle suddette fondamenta comuni viene poi edificata la successiva preparazione specializzata, articolata nell'acquisizione di ulteriori competenze, metodologiche, computazionali e applicative, in ambiti relativi all'azienda e al mercato, socio-demografico, relativi alla tecnologia e alla biostatistica.

Ambiti occupazionali
L'indagine AlmaLaurea del 2011 sui laureati specialistici, magistrali e a ciclo unico, a tre anni dal titolo, ha rilevato fra i laureati specialistici e magistrali in Scienze statistiche un tasso di disoccupazione più basso della media (2,2% contro 8,8%), un tasso di occupazione più alto della media (90% contro 86%), una proporzione con lavoro stabile più alta della media (70% contro 53%), un guadagno netto mensile più elevato della media (1.519 euro contro 1.226). I laureati magistrali sono impegnati in svariati ambiti del sistema produttivo, nella pubblica amministrazione e negli enti di ricerca. Altre indagini più specifiche mostrano anche che molti statistici fanno rapidamente carriera, perché, fin dall'inizio, l'inserimento nel mondo del lavoro è orientato alla gestione dei dati per il governo delle organizzazioni lavorative ove si trova a prestare servizio.
