Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso forma laureati con una solida preparazione culturale nei principali settori di questa disciplina, preparazione adeguata per affrontare con competenza ed autonomia sia attività professionali che di ricerca accademica ed industriale. Il percorso formativo comprende un primo blocco di insegnamenti obbligatori nelle discipline chimiche fondamentali (chimica fisica, organica, inorganica, analitica) con l'obiettivo di completare la formazione di base acquisita con la laurea, e di introdurre le conoscenze specialistiche più avanzate. Successivamente lo studente sceglie uno specifico ambito di specializzazione selezionando, con la presentazione del piano di studi, specifici insegnamenti opzionali nell'ambito di una lista di corsi avanzati. In tal modo, senza il bisogno di curricula rigidamente strutturati, lo studente potrà seguire uno specifico percorso formativo costruito sulla base dei propri interessi culturali e professionali. Il corso di studi si completa con alcuni insegnamenti a scelta dello studente e con la prova finale nella forma di una tesi sperimentale da svolgersi presso l'università o aziende ed enti esterni.

Ambiti occupazionali
La laurea magistrale in Chimica consente di dedicarsi ad attività di ricerca, produzione e controllo in strutture pubbliche e private. I principali sbocchi occupazionali sono nell'industria (industria chimica, farmaceutica, alimentare, cosmetica, cartaria, conciaria, elettrochimica e manifatturiera in genere), nei laboratori di analisi, nei settori sanitario, dell'energia e della conservazione dei beni culturali. Le possibilità offerte dalla libera professione, inoltre, sono in espansione soprattutto nei settori riguardanti le attività di analisi, controllo e validazione, di salvaguardia dell'ambiente e della protezione civile. La laurea magistrale consente inoltre l'accesso, previo esame di ammissione, alla scuola di dottorato in Scienze molecolari.
