Brief description of the degree course
Characteristics and objectives
This degree course trains professionals in the field of neuropsychology who will be able to assess the cognitive and behavioural changes in neurological and psychiatric patients resulting from pathological events derived from various causes, either congenital or acquired; they will be able to set up preventive interventions, and rehabilitation of higher cortical functions.
Students will gain knowledge regarding the main theoretical models of cognitive processes and their neural basis, in addition to knowledge of the main cognitive functions disorders resulting from congenital, developmental, degenerative or acquired diseases. Additionally, particular attention will be provided to the application of cognitive models for psychiatric and neurological patients.
Furthermore, this degree course is characterized by a strong international appeal and it is proposed as a pole of attraction for foreign and Italian students who want to use their professional resources to achieve success at an international level. It allows students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for both basic and applied research in the fields of cognitive neuroscience, with particular reference to training in the neuropsychological, neuroimaging and brain stimulation fields, as well as in the diagnosis of cognitive disorders. In fact, the latest scientific developments in the field of
neuroimaging and brain stimulation have made clear the need to understand the neural basis of cognition and behaviour, as well as to plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation protocols.

Occupational opportunities
The degree course allows the access to public health and private entities, for professional consulting services, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychological and cognitive disorders. The degree allows employment opportunities at the international level in designing cognitive tests and evaluating neuropsychological disorders, involving the use of neuroimaging, electrophysiology and brain stimulation. In addition to the design of cognitive tests, students will be able to analyze brain activity.
