Syllabus
Prerequisites: basics of probability theory; basic networking course
Target skills and knowledge: - ability to model complex systems
- ability to identify the appropriate performance metrics for a networked system
- ability to produce results using analytical and simulation models
- ability to interpret the results and to derive from them design and optimization criteria
Examination methods: course project; written test; oral exam
Assessment criteria: - ability to understand a problem and to model it through analysis or simulation
- ability to produce significant results and to provide their interpretation
- ability to optimize a networking scheme
Course unit contents: theoretical foundations of simulation, confidence interval; simulation tools; analytical tools for network analysis; simulation lab; study of innovative schemes as published in recent scientific papers; course project
