Syllabus
Prerequisites: The course requires a B2-level knowledge of English.
Class attendance is mandatory.
Target skills and knowledge: Knowledge of the elements that concur to communication: body language, non-verbal language.
Examination methods: Multiple-choice test, group work on non-verbal communication and body language.
Assessment criteria: The final grade will be based on:
- a multiple choice test on the study material and all topics discussed in class;
- a project (can be done in group) on non-verbal communication.
- class attendance and participation.
Course unit contents: The course aims to introduce students to the non-verbal elements that contribute to communciation.
The course lectures will focus on body language, facial expressions and on the non-verbal elements of the voice.
The analysis of communication will be based on examples of spoken language produced in authentic video texts.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course integrates lessons in the lab and analysis of videos with the software Elan. Only 40 people can be accomodated in the lab. In case the number of studentes desiring to attend exceeds the capacity of the lab, priority will be given to Strategie di Comunicazione students.
Additional notes about suggested reading: In addition to the text in the bibliography, other reading material will be recommended in class.
