Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso forma una figura di ingegnere dotato di specifiche conoscenze professionali, eventualmente orientate a specifici settori o tipologie di materiali, che sia in grado di occuparsi, all'interno di un'azienda, della ricerca e sviluppo di prodotti e processi innovativi, organizzazione di laboratori di ricerca e di caratterizzazione di materiali e prodotti, organizzazione aziendale, analisi del contesto commerciale. Il corso di laurea magistrale pertanto persegue i seguenti obiettivi specifici: acquisizione della padronanza del metodo scientifico d'indagine e delle strumentazioni di laboratorio, di un'approfondita competenza nella scelta e nella realizzazione di materiali in funzione delle condizioni particolari d'impiego, nella messa a punto di nuovi materiali o combinazioni di materiali e nella ridefinizione ed estensione dei settori di utilizzazione dei materiali tradizionali; acquisizione di una solida preparazione nel settore delle tecnologie tradizionali di produzione e lavorazione dei materiali e della capacità di ideare, pianificare, progettare e gestire processi complessi e/o innovativi; consentire l'accesso al dottorato in Scienza e ingegneria dei materiali, al dottorato in Ingegneria industriale o ad altri dottorati affini.

Ambiti occupazionali
Le possibilità di inserimento professionale del laureato magistrale in Ingegneria dei materiali sono nella progettazione, realizzazione e sviluppo di prodotti o processi complessi e/o innovativi in aziende che producono o utilizzano materiali, nonché in enti o laboratori di ricerca nel campo dei nuovi materiali.
