Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso fornisce, sulla base della solida preparazione acquisita durante la laurea triennale, una conoscenza approfondita e avanzata delle diverse aree dell'ingegneria informatica, dell'organizzazione aziendale e delle telecomunicazioni. Per quanto riguarda la formazione specifica nel settore dell'ingegneria informatica, il corso copre tutti gli argomenti fondamentali teorici e applicativi indispensabili nel bagaglio culturale di un laureato del settore, quali la teoria della computazione, l'algoritmica, i sistemi operativi, le architetture dei sistemi di calcolo, le reti di calcolatori e le basi di dati. Inoltre, a completamento di tale percorso, è prevista l'acquisizione di conoscenze avanzate su alcuni argomenti specialistici di notevole impatto applicativo, che lo studente sceglie all'interno di una variegata offerta che valorizza le aree di competenza specifiche dei docenti. Lo scopo è formare una figura professionale di alto profilo in grado di utilizzare l'ampio spettro di conoscenze per interpretare, descrivere e risolvere, anche in modo innovativo, problemi dell'ingegneria informatica che richiedono un elevato grado di specializzazione ed eventualmente un approccio interdisciplinare. Lo studente può scegliere fra tre diversi orientamenti: Informatica, Telematica e Gestionale. I laureati saranno in grado di progettare, analizzare e gestire sistemi informatici complessi e/o innovativi; di pianificare e gestire sistemi di elaborazione sofisticati per la conduzione di esperimenti di elevata complessità; di fornire consulenza altamente qualificata all'interno di progetti che riguardano l'utilizzazione di tecnologie informatiche e delle telecomunicazioni.

Ambiti occupazionali
Il corso di laurea forma figure professionali competenti per la progettazione, realizzazione e gestione di sistemi informatici complessi, e non per la semplice utilizzazione dei sistemi stessi. Tra i possibili sbocchi lavorativi per un ingegnere informatico, si possono enumerare i seguenti: progetto e realizzazione di sistemi informativi aziendali; automazione dei servizi in enti pubblici e privati ; sviluppo di sistemi e applicazioni multimediali e distribuite in rete, con particolare riferimento alla rete Internet; realizzazione di sistemi di elaborazione; sviluppo di sistemi integrati per la supervisione di impianti. La figura professionale del laureato magistrale è orientata alla produzione e all'innovazione delle tecnologie dell'informazione e delle comunicazioni.
