Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso completa la formazione dell'ingegnere meccanico con solide competenze nella progettazione, produzione e gestione di prodotti e sistemi ad alto contenuto tecnologico e di innovazione. Prepara l'ingegnere meccanico a funzioni direttive o di ricerca e sviluppo nell'ambito dell'industria manifatturiera e dei servizi collegati, con attenzione sia alle competenze trasversali sia alle competenze specialistiche richieste per affrontare i problemi complessi di natura interdisciplinare. Al primo anno sono previsti insegnamenti obbligatori di approfondimento delle conoscenze mentre al secondo anno è disponibile un'offerta molto ampia di corsi a scelta (anche in inglese), organizzata in percorsi formativi flessibili che lo studente può adattare alle proprie specifiche esigenze di formazione. Molti insegnamenti prevedono attività di progettazione, sperimentazione e analisi presso i laboratori didattici e di ricerca.

Ambiti occupazionali
L'ingegnere meccanico magistrale svolge tipicamente funzioni di ricerca e sviluppo, progettazione, direzione di stabilimento e gestione degli impianti complessi; la sua formazione multidisciplinare consente un facile adattamento a realtà aziendali di diverse dimensioni e può operare con successo anche in ambito tecnico-commerciale, manutenzione, gestione qualità e logistica.
Il laureato potrà trovare impiego in tutti i principali settori industriali; potrà operare in studi di ingegneria, nella direzione di uffici tecnici di aziende industriali, nelle amministrazioni pubbliche, negli enti territoriali (regioni, province, comuni) e negli enti di ricerca.
