Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: The course will provide principles and procedures for structural design of normal and pre-stressed reinforced concrete structures, according to the Italian end European standards.
Introduction concepts to seismic design of structures will be also given.
Course unit contents: - Reinforced concrete: stress- strain relationships, creep and shrinkage. Design for torsion: basic concepts. Slender columns. Ultimate deformation and ductility of members with flexure. Ductility of frames: basic concepts; moment redistribution. Disturbed regions: strut and ties methods. The importance of reinforcement detailing.
-Introduction to prestressed concrete: post-tensioning, pre-tensioning; partial prestressing, full prestressing. Design for serviceability. Design for strength. Statically indeterminate beams. End block design.
