Syllabus
Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of the essential facts of medieval history from the fifth to the fourteenth century.
Target skills and knowledge: A solid knowledge of the most important problems of Medieval history and a broad panorama of the main political, social and cultural aspect from the 5 to the 14 century in Europe.
Examination methods: oral exam
Assessment criteria: Will be evaluated: the ability to understand the cultural and political links, the ability to discuss about specific and cross-cutting issues; the knowledge of the main events and problems of medieval history.
Course unit contents: The syllabus it's structured in three sections. The first will deal with the outspread and development during time of the expression Middle Ages; the second will deal with an outline of general Medieval history from the 5 to the 12 century. The Third will deal briefly on Diplomatica, that is with the specific tecniques of analysis for medieval documents
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures.At the beginning of the year a questionnaire will be presented to students to assess their previous knowledge in medieval history basic facts. PPT slides will be available on Moodle platform.
