Syllabus
Prerequisites: Course attendance requires basic knowledge acquired in First Year courses.
Target skills and knowledge: The course will present the major areas of clinical psychology. More specifically, the student will acquire knowledge of the basis of multidimensional assessment, research methods in clinical psychology, and psychopathology.
Examination methods: The exam consists in a written test with multiple-choice, true/false, and completion questions.
Assessment criteria: Evaluation of student achievement will be made in relation to the understanding of course topics, and the knowledge and integration of key concepts, processes and methods.
Course unit contents: - Theories and models in clinical psychology
- Multidimensional assessment in Clinical Psychology
- Research methods in Clinical Psychology
- Psychopathology: the clinical features of some major psychopathological disorders will be examined (anxiety disorders, stress-related disorders, depressive and bipolar disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, dissociative disorders, somatic symptoms disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course topics will be addressed through frontal lessons, and with video clips for specific topics. Students will then move on to a thorough study of the course contents using the textbook.
