Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso fornisce allo studente una solida preparazione a livello avanzato nei vari settori delle discipline chimiche privilegiando in particolare quegli aspetti tecnologici che devono essere propri del bagaglio culturale di un operatore del mondo della produzione. La doppia finalità di una approfondita preparazione scientifico culturale di base e dell'acquisizione dei principi fondamentali che portano alla realizzazione di un processo industriale chimico e alla sua conduzione si consegue attraverso gli insegnamenti di chimica industriale e di impianti chimici, oltre a quelli avanzati di chimica analitica, inorganica, organica, fisica e analitica orientati agli aspetti applicativi, e con specifiche esercitazioni di laboratorio. Accanto a questo tipo di preparazione, sono curati anche quegli aspetti culturali e tecnologici che consentiranno al laureato magistrale di occuparsi, all'interno di un'azienda o di un'istituzione di ricerca, degli aspetti connessi alla ricerca e allo sviluppo di prodotti e dei processi.

Ambiti occupazionali
La laurea magistrale fornisce la preparazione necessaria per svolgere attività di ricerca, di controllo, di conduzione di impianti, in strutture pubbliche e private. Le prospettive d'impiego sono buone e riguardano prevalentemente l'industria chimica, chimico-farmaceutica, alimentare, conciaria, dei materiali avanzati e manifatturiera in genere, compresa quella meccanica, elettrica ed elettronica sia nell'area della produzione, sia in quella della ricerca, dell'innovazione, della gestione e controllo di qualità, sia in quella commerciale e manageriale. Un'ulteriore prospettiva è quella dell'attività di consulenza industriale, anche come libero professionista, relativa alle problematiche della sicurezza e dell'igiene nell'ambiente di lavoro, nonché l'impiego in laboratori di analisi, privati e pubblici. La diffusa industrializzazione e le sempre maggiori richieste di salvaguardia ambientale e di sicurezza e prevenzione hanno portato il chimico, in particolare quello industriale, ad un crescente impiego anche in aziende non strettamente chimiche, sia come libero professionista che come dipendente. È possibile inoltre proseguire gli studi con il dottorato di ricerca o un master di II livello.
