Syllabus
Prerequisites: It is recommended the preliminary reading of the text MONZANI M., Temi di Psicologia giuridica e investigativa, Padova, Libreria Universitaria editore, 2015.
Target skills and knowledge: Learning of the main theories and the main approaches to the study of criminal sciences.
Ability of applying these theories with regard to specific cases and individual offenses.
Examination methods: The examination is oral and it consists in an exposition and a discussion on the topics explored during the course.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will focus on learning of textbooks and personal and critical reworking of the topics explored during the course.
Course unit contents: The course aims to analyze the most significant contributions of the criminal sciences, specially the role of the psychologist in forensic science and in criminology. They will analyze the main areas of intervention (eg. Technical - judicial and psycho-criminology on-the-spot investigation, Criminal profiling, evaluation of the offender and the victim of crime) and the specific contribution with regard to some criminal cases in point: murder, domestic violence, couple criminal, stalking, child abuse, kidnapping and Stockholm Syndrome, satanic cults and crime, suicide, environmental crimes.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, audio – visual aids, reports of external experts and seminars. The theoretical lessons will be followed by analysis of judicial cases.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The students will need to register on the e-learning course because the materials for the lessons will be uploaded on the virtual platform Moodle.
