Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
L'ingegnere chimico e di processo è la figura professionale che ha le competenze tecniche per intervenire sullo stato chimico, biochimico o fisico delle sostanze, dalla scala molecolare a quella di impianto. Ciò gli permette di progettare e gestire i sistemi di produzione per trasformare materie prime di natura diversa in prodotti essenziali al quotidiano benessere: dai carburanti alle fibre sintetiche per abbigliamento, dalle vernici ai materiali plastici, dai prodotti alimentari a quelli farmaceutici, dai detergenti alle applicazioni biomedicali. L'ingegnere chimico inoltre partecipa direttamente alla gestione delle risorse naturali, alla protezione ambientale e al controllo della sicurezza industriale, in un'ottica di sviluppo industriale sostenibile. Il corso di laurea magistrale insegna i metodi di approccio alle problematiche dell'industria chimica e di processo, e le moderne tecniche di progettazione industriale. Allo studente è offerta la possibilità di personalizzare il proprio percorso formativo mediante la scelta autonoma di insegnamenti in aree tematiche specifiche, tra le quali anche lo sviluppo industriale sostenibile, la protezione ambientale, le industrie e i processi innovativi.

Ambiti occupazionali
Il corso prevede sbocchi professionali presso: industrie di trasformazione delle materie prime (chimiche, petrolchimiche e di processo), dell'energia (da fonti convenzionali e rinnovabili) e della chimica fine; industrie di produzione di beni di largo consumo (alimentari, farmaceutici, per l'igiene personale e la pulizia della casa, nanotecnologie); aziende del settore biologico, biotecnologico e biomedico; società di servizi per la progettazione e gestione di apparecchiature e impianti (società di ingegneria); centri di ricerca e sviluppo di aziende pubbliche e private; consulenza in materia di sicurezza industriale; enti e imprese deputati alla protezione e al controllo ambientale; libera professione.
