Prerequisites: electrical installations, electrical machines, automatic controls
Target skills and knowledge: To acquire the knowledge base of the establishment and operation of a large electric systems. To acquire modeling of the key components as well as the control operations.
Examination methods: Oral examination
Assessment criteria: The student evaluation will be based on: - the understanding of the arguments - on the acquisition of concepts and methodologies proposed, - the ability to apply them.
Course unit contents: Introductory remarks on the production and transmission systems for electricity. The sinusoidal regime of the transmission lines and the representative diagrams. The voltage regulation. The study of power flows in a network. The frequency control and power exchange. The economic dispatch of generation. The stability of the parallel: static and transient. The calculation of short-circuit currents in networks. The surge in networks and their propagation. Selective protection for short circuits: Distance protection for lines.
Exercises on the use of software for power flows calculation and for the simulation of the dynamic control of electrical systems.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Theoretical lectures and (about 20 hours) of laboratory simulation.
