Syllabus
Prerequisites: The course can be followed by students with different background. Students with different background are encouraged to participate to increase the variety of competencies normally needed in an entrepreneurial and/or innovation project.
Target skills and knowledge: The course enables students to acquire the entrepreneurial and managerial skills needed to pursue an innovation project both from an entrepreneurial point of view (new venture creation) and from a managerial point of view (management of innovation).
In particular the following abilities will be developed:
- to understand the role of technological evolution on new ventures creation and new product and service development
- to understand how to define and build a business model
- to understand the processes involved in new product and service development
- to understand the fundamental dimensions of a project from a managerial and organizational point of view.
Examination methods: At the end of the course a written examination is planned on the entire program.
Assessment criteria: The assessment is based on the following activities and relative weight:
30% written examination
70% project work
Course unit contents: Characteristics of a project. The basic parameters of a project (scope, resources, time, cost, quality) . The phases of the project life cycle
Stakeholders and their influence on the project. The areas of knowledge in the management of a project (scope, time, cost, quality, risk, human resources, communication, procurement, integration)
Project planning , Project Quality Management, Project Risk Management
The economic and financial dimension of the project (evaluation criteria, the economic control of the project)

Types of innovation projects . The sources of innovation . The process of developing a new product (phases and methodologies).
The creativity dimension in the development of a new product / service
The protection of intellectual property (patents, trademarks, etc.)

Innovation projects and new business creation.
The entrepreneurial dimension of a project.
The recognition of a business opportunity.
The identification and development of a business model.
Business development activities.
The life cycle of a new venture.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course is characterized by a high level of interactivity. Students are stimulated to take active part in class discussion.
During the course students will receive some assigments to be done within a specified schedule.
