Syllabus
Prerequisites: A decent proficiency in English (both oral and written) is required.
Target skills and knowledge: The class will give students the ability to evaluate American foreign policy in historical perspective.
Examination methods: Written final exam. Midterm test for those who attend regularly the class.
Assessment criteria: Active participation in class and test: 50%. Final exam: 50%.
Those who do not attend regularly the class will be evaluated only through the final exam (100%)
Course unit contents: This class will focus on the debate in the USA about wWestward expansion, imperialism, foreign alliances, and the role of the United States in the world.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Instructor's lectures, plus occasional guests' contributions.
Additional notes about suggested reading: Tonello's and Anderson's books are mandatory. Bacevich's book is only for those who did non attend classes and did not take the midterm test.
