Target skills and knowledge: ● Knowledge of analog electronics basics
● Ability to decipher an analog circuit by detecting its main functional blocks
● Ability to understand and calculate the approximate behavior of the main blocks within an electronic circuit
● Basic ability to design new analog circuits
Examination methods: Oral examination
Assessment criteria: The criteria for the evaluation of the oral test take into account the correctness of contents, arguing clarity and critical analysis
Course unit contents: 1. TOOLS FOR CIRCUIT ANALYSIS AND SIGNAL PROCESSING
- Laws of Kirckhhoff, Thevenin, Norton, Miller
- Sensors and Transducers: electric modeling
- A fundamental theorem: Ramo-Shockley
- Transfer function: time and frequency domain
- practical use of Laplace's transformation

2. SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES - DIODES
- Semiconductor review, p-n junctions
- Different types of diode
- Diode as rectifier and rectifier
- Diode as a switch: capacitive effects
- Translinear (Gilbert) principle

3. SEMICONDUCTOR - TRANSISTOR DEVICES
- BJT, MOSFET, JFET working principles
- Simplified models for small and large signals
- Capacitive effects, frequency, switching and transient behavior
- Transistors as switches
- Transistors for amplification: basic blocks (Polarization, current generators and current mirrors, fundamental configurations with a transistor (EC, CC, BC), amplifiers and voltage and current buffers, frequency behavior, basic two-transistor blocks)

4. OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIERS
- Introduction to various types of OPA
- Ideal / Non Ideal OPA (Main limitations)
- Introduction to feedback trough ideal OPAs
- gain, ideal gain and loop gain
- loop nodes and branches behavior (virtual ground)

- Introduction to feedback
- inverting / non-inverting elementary configurations
- Benefits: Stability, Linearity, Noise, Impedance, Bandwidth
- negative / positive feedback
- Useful tools for feedback analysis
- simplified methods and Blackman theorem
- classification → current / voltage feedback
- Examples from simple to complex
- Voltage, current, transimpedance, transconductivity amplifiers
- Circuit analysis with negative feedback
