Syllabus
Prerequisites: - Bases of anatomy and physiology of the motor system
- Bases of clinical neurology
- Bases of rehabilitation methodology
Target skills and knowledge: At the end of course the course the student will aim:
- to know the motor system functioning and its disruption due to neurological diseases
- to know the neuroscience principles underpinning the recovery process of the central nervous system, after brain lesion
- to know the bases of clinical assessment and motor therapy planning. in neurorehabilitation
- to apply the methodological principles of therapeutic exercise to promote the recovery of motor function after lesion of the central nervous system, in clinical practice
- to apprehend critically new knowledge from scientific literature in the field of neurorehabilitation.

Course unit contents: - The computational, anatomical, physiological (CAP) model of the motor system.
- Translational research in neurorehabilitation (The Cumberland Consensus Model)
- Clinical reasoning and ICF in neurorehabilitation
- Main clinical domains for the assessment in neurorehabilitation (construct; outcome measures).
- Evidence on the treatment of main diseases in neurorehabilitation (i.e. stroke; traumatic brain injury; spinal cord injury; multiple sclerosis; Parkinson disease).
- Prevalent syndromes in neurorehabilitation (neglect; apraxia; pusher syndrome)
- Effects of drugs in neurorehabilitation
- Case studies
