Brief description of the degree course
Caratteristiche e finalità
Il corso di laurea in Statistica per le tecnologie e le scienze fornisce una formazione interdisciplinare di statistica, matematica e informatica, con approfondimenti verso i più recenti avanzamenti nelle tecnologie dell’informazione e le moderne tecniche di acquisizione online di dati. Gli ambiti applicativi di interesse sono molteplici e vanno da quelli tecnologico-sperimentali a quello medico, biologico, sanitario e ambientale. Le attività formative consentono allo studente di acquisire tutte le competenze spendibili, ad esempio, (I) nelle applicazioni della statistica al controllo della qualità di prodotti e servizi e alla valutazione della capacità dei processi produttivi; (II) nella gestione informatica e nell’analisi statistica di big data; (III) nella progettazione di algoritmi e strutture di dati, nonchè dell’architettura e programmazione di sistemi informatici; (IV) nelle applicazioni della statistica all’analisi di dati provenienti da studi osservazionali e sperimentali tipici dell’epidemiologia e della ricerca clinica.

Ambiti occupazionali
La collocazione professionale dei laureati in Statistica per le tecnologie e le scienze può avvenire in diversi ambiti: aziende di produzione/servizi/commerciali, società di informatica, società di consulenza, aziende farmaceutiche, istituti di ricerca bio-medica, studi professionali, laboratori, enti o istituti pubblici e privati. Coerentemente con i propri interessi e le proprie attitudini, gli studenti hanno l’opportunità di specializzarsi nelle principali applicazioni statistiche in ambito tecnologico e di controllo di qualità, biomedico e sanitario, informatico e di data management. Con queste competenze, possono trovare collocazione come tecnici statistici preparati a lavorare e ad applicare le proprie conoscenze in campo industriale, medico, biologico, ambientale e scientifico in generale. Ad esempio, nell'area del total quality management, come tecnici statistici per attività di controllo e di programmazione della produzione e miglioramento della qualità, oppure nell'area dell’information technology, come analisti programmatori, in grado di organizzare ed elaborare i flussi informativi. Infine, specializzandosi in biostatistica, potranno trovare collocazione in aziende farmaceutiche, strutture sanitarie, enti pubblici, enti e istituti di ricerca.
