Syllabus
Prerequisites: This is a basic module and it does not require any propaedeutical knowledge and skill.
Target skills and knowledge:: The student is supposed to develop a historic-theoretical awareness of the use of some key-word in the philosophical thought. The student should acquire a conceptual and historical analysis method allowing him/her to problematize words that are ordinarily assumed as known and self-explicative.
Course unit contents: The module will focus on the notion of ‘metaphysics’. More specifically, it is meant to provide an awareness of the plurality of meanings that have been ascribed and that are still ascribed to this word, also thanks to the analysis of some texts.
Planned learning activities: The module is meant to shed light on the different ways through which the notion of metaphysic has been thought. In this sense, in addiction to an analysis of the historical origin and development of the word, the classes will be focused on the use of the concept of metaphysics within Kantian philosophy through the analysis of the Prolegomena to any future metaphysics and within Heideggerean thought through the analysis of What
is metaphysics.
Textbooks: I. Kant, Prolegomeni ad ogni futura metafisica. --: --, --. Cerca nel catalogo
M. Heidegger, Che cos'è la metafisica. Milano: Adelphi, 2001. Cerca nel catalogo
Teaching methods: The module will consist of teaching in lecture. After the introductory part, which will be aimed to clarify the notion of metaphysics in a historical-conceptual perspective, the module will concentrate on the detailed analysis of Heidegger’s and Kant’s texts.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will consist in an oral exam at the end of the module
