Syllabus
Prerequisites: None. Basic Economics advised.
Examination methods: Oral exam with the discussion of a research paper.
Course unit contents: The course main purpose is to improve the knowledge of economics and apply it effectively to research issues in relation to the student’s interests and specific needs associated with the stage.

The course deals with the relationship between industrialization, urbanization and globalization in a historical perspective, on the fundamental issues in trade and development, with trends of urban and regional development. These are examined in light of specific problems, for instance from the point of view of technological progress. In this respect the course examines how patterns of digitalization and technology diffusion affect economic and spatial structures therefore determining new phenomena of development at the local level.
Case studies and country specific issues are examined based on students’ research and interests together with local development projects.
