The first part deals with the principles of economics and the economic perspective on local phenomena. This provides the basic theoretical and analytical basis to the study of local development. To discuss that we focus on how space is taken into account by economic models to then consider other approaches such as that of the local productive systems and the interaction between local actors in the process of development. That helps to bring into focus the many economic issues that are involved in local development and the relationship between economic and non economic variables. This is especially examined during students in class presentations and specific lectures.
