Syllabus
Prerequisites: A sufficient knowledge of both oral and written French; the course is taught in French.
Examination methods: Oral examination. It is possible to write a personal essay in French on a question concerning one aspect of the course.
Course unit contents: “Once upon a time, elsewhere, but always in French”
1. Perspectives on the Francophonie (21 h.)
2. Some francophone rewriting of Fairy Tales (42 h.)
Starting from an introduction to the Francophonie and the different approaches to French literatures, the course will approach the question of the contemporary rewriting of some Fairy Tales. A particular attention will be paid to the appropriation and the reversal of plot, characters and context in the texts of some authors from different francophone cultural areas.
