Syllabus
Prerequisites: Knowledge of the English language at B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Examination methods: Written test with translation of a text of a tyoe chosen from those studied during the course and guided commentary with open and/or closed questions.
Course unit contents: The course aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the writing and translation of formal texts. Macrotextual, discourse and genre features are first analysed as a basis to develop in-depth knowledge of morphosyntax, figurative language, terminology, phraseology and lexis. The chosen perspective is comparative and contrastive in order to throw light on translation methods and strategies of writing and translating.
