Prerequisites: Basic Knowledge of Classical Archaeology, Late Roman and Proto-Bizantine History
Examination methods: Oral exam with discussion of the course topics.
First topic chosen by the candidate.
Course unit contents: 1. Christian Archaeology. Conceptual and chronological definition.
2. Architecture, architectural sculpture, liturgical furnishings.
3. Excavations and research in Christian Near East.
4. Paintings and mosaic decoration.
5. Christian Iconography and symbology studies
6. Sumptuary Arts, introduction to instrumentum domesticum.
7. Wrecks and Nautical Archaeology of the Christian Era.
8. Literary sources
