Syllabus
Prerequisites: Master-thesis level knowledge of molecular and cell biology, microbiology; basic notions in mouse transgenesis.
Examination methods: The course is being completely updated and will be held by new teachers; final examination will be likely based on a written essay and on public discussion of this essay together with the teachers and the class.
Course unit contents: The course will focus on the discussion and analysis of available experimental model systems used in medical and biological research, including cell cultures (primary, immortalized), organoids, animal models. The course entails a series of seminars from researchers working on different model systems, and a journal-club activity where students will be asked to critically dissect the pros and cons of available experimental models. A more detailed program will be available at the beginning of the course.
