Syllabus
Prerequisites: Fundamentals of manufacturing processes, geometrical product specifications (GPS), basics of measuring processes, integrated CAD/CAM systems.
Examination methods: Written examination and final colloquium.
The written test includes 4 open questions on course contents and an excercise.
Lab experiments will generate data to be analysed by the student as homework and discussed at the final colloquium.
Course unit contents: Introduction. Quality management systems. ISO 9000 standards. Benefits and costs of quality control activities.
Statistical Process Control (SPC). Control charts. Process capabilities.
Acceptance testing. Sampling plans. Decision rules.
Surface metrology. Verification of roughness in industrial practice. Advanced mapping of surface geometry, nanometrology of surfaces and microparts.
Dimensional and form metrology. Coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and systems. Non-contact metrology. Computed tomography for dimensional metrology.
Quality assurance of manufacturing processes: testing of machine tools.
