Syllabus
Prerequisites: Analytical and Stochastic Mathematical Methods for Engineering; Introduction to Partial Differential Equations; Continuum Mechanics and Dynamical Systems.
Examination methods: Oral examination and discussion of homeworks
Course unit contents: Navier-Stokes equations; scaling and relevant dimensionless groups; solution procedures. Low intermediate and high Reynolds number flows. Hydrodynamic stability and transition to turbulence. Turbulence closure models. Shallow water equations. Sediment Balance and relevant morphodynamic equations. Conservation equation for passive tracers.
